Raaga Rang: An Evening of Kathak Dancing with Live Orchestra
KVP Heritage Society presents an evening of classical Kathak with a live ensemble. Gaurav Bhatti and Amrapali Bhandari dance. Bhatti grew up in Punjab, trained in Kathak and in the Uday Shankar style, and has worked with the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company in India and the Aakash Odedra Company in the United Kingdom. Bhandari trained at Kathak Kendra in New Delhi under Guru Rajendra Gangani, danced with the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company from 2015 to 2018, and now teaches Kathak at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society. The musicians are Varijashree Venugopal and Dr. Deepak Paramashivan on vocals, Gurumurthy on tabla, Atish Mukhopadyay on sarod, Shruti Kamath on sitar, and John Calverley on violin. Praveen D. Rao composed the music, and Usha Gupta is the artistic director. The programme runs 90 minutes at 13750 88 Avenue, Surrey. This is the second production by Usha Gupta and KVP Heritage Society, after Khoj in 2024.
